Colony of Rhode Island. Providence. January 15, 1776. One Shilling. Fr. RI-220. PCGS Very Good-10 Details. Design Redrawn, Pieces Replaces, Signature Redrawn. As illustrated.

Description: Laid paper. Serial No. 5601. Signed by John Cole, in red, and Tho. Greene. Printed by John Carter. Uniface. 75mm by 100mm. A choice note at first impression, especially for the given grade, and a note that holds up well to in-hand scrutiny. “This is rare in all grades, and the price column assigned for Very Good notes in Newman is not indicative of the overall Condition Census of this issue,” wrote the Ford specialist 16 years ago. Rarity and value have probably both increased since then.
