Colony of New-York. September 15, 1755. Five Pounds or 100 Shillings. Fr. NY-145. PCGS Choice Fine-15 Details. Repairs. Thicker coarse paper. As illustrated.

Description: Serial No. too faint to read. Signatures too faint too be legible. Uniface, dark back. Printed by James Parker. Standard size. Anti-raising device of two dumbbells marked “V.” It’s Death To Counterfeit This Bill. A pleasing note, deservedly called “Choice” by PCGS. Though low on the grading scale, the eye appeal is high up the charts for this note. Inked vignettes faded but readable. An extremely rare denomination within an equally rare issue date; only 300 notes were authorized. A classic colonial note seeking a new cabinet.

Pedigree: From Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part VIII, October, 2005, Lot 1530. (Ford Price Realized: $517.50)
