Description: Thicker coarse paper. Serial No. 2945. Signed J. DePeyster, David Clarkson, and Abr. Lynsen. Uniface. Printed by James Parker. Standard size. Anti-raising device of one dumbbell marked “V.” Tis Death To Counterfeit This Bill. (Despite the counterfeiting warning, it seems one Pat O’Sullivan tried his hand at making spurious notes of this issue. He was arrested, jailed, and then hanged for his attempt at entrepreneurship.) A sound note for the grade. The corners are rounded, signifying plenty of circulation before its scheduled redemption date of November, 1762. Backed with somewhat darker paper, an old period-style signature at top. Though somewhat faded and worn, the present rarity represents one of the very few surviving notes from the pressing of just 200 examples of the denomination. “This note is a miracle of survival, “ wrote the Ford specialist. Its rarity and desirability have not changed in the nearly 20 years since its appearance in the Ford sale!
