Colony of New-York. July 10, 1724. One Shilling & Six Pence. Indented Bill. Fr. NY-57. PCGS Good-6 Details. Splits, Backed. As illustrated.

Description: Appears to be laid paper. Serial No. 1919. Signed by Jacobus Kip, John Cruger, G. Beekman, and D, Provoost. Uniface, old paper backing. Printed by William Bradford. 85mm by 140mm. “A great rarity on the Colony, if not excessively rare, then close to it,” wrote the Ford colonial note specialist, adding that the present rarity was “one of the most important New York colonial notes we have ever seen at auction.” We can assure you the rarity, historic nature, and collecting importance of this note has not waned an iota since its appearance in the Ford sale. Somewhat tatterdemalion in appearance, but thankfully left un-curated, with the note still adhering to the paper backing it acquired in the distant past. We suspect this note, once obtained by the winning bidder, may not see the light of day again until its new steward parts with his or her collection somewhere down the line.
