Colony of New-York. February 16, 1771. Three Pounds or 60 Shillings. Fr. NY-165CF. PCGS Very Fine-20 Details. Pieces Added, Design Redrawn, Repaired Edge Splits. As illustrated.

Description: Laid paper. Serial No. 61348. “Signed” by S. Verplanck, T. Bache, and A. Lott. Uniface, penciled notations on verso. “Printed” by Hugh Gaine. Standard size. ‘Tis Death To Counterfeit. This is one spectacular note. The paper color is strong, as is the inked portion of the print. The “signatures” are likewise bold and completely readable. A counterfeit note that will be long remembered for its outstanding overall appearance – perhaps it is a little too good. This specimen remains a fantastic note on a New-York issue, even after the passage of nearly 20 years.
