Colony of New-York. April 15, 1758. Ten Pounds or 200 Shillings. Fr. NY-154. PCGS About Uncirculated-55. No qualifiers. As illustrated.

Description: Thicker coarse paper. Serial No. 5723. Signed by Henry Cuyler, Jr., David Van Horne, and David Clarkson. Uniface, dark back. Printed by James Parker. Standard size. Anti-raising device of two dumbbells marked “V.” It’s Death To Counterfeit This Bill, apostrophe variety. Still another great, high-grade Colony of New-York note, one that Mr. Ford considered “choice” in his notations. The majority of the notes seen from this issue are well-worn and somewhat tattered today; this note is a notable contradiction to that fact. The margins are a trifle tight to top and right, broader on the other sides. The ink is strong with bold vignettes and signatures. Possibly a Condition Census example of the issue. Serious collectors only need apply.

Pedigree: From Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford Jr. Collection, Part III, May, 2004, Lot 634. (Ford Price Realized: $1,955)
