Colony of New Hampshire. June 28, 1776. Redated June 1, 1756. Ten Pence. Fr. NH-164. PCGS Choice Very Fine-35 Details. Multiple Repairs, Design Redrawn, Contemporary Annotation. As illustrated.

Description: Thick, coarse stock. Serial No. 1249. Signed by Long. 72mm by 57mm. Uniface. Only six more days after issue until the Revolution begins! Evenly centered with bold inking and a good overall aesthetic appearance. Old mounting hinge residue shown in the Ford catalog has been curated away, but not to the detriment of the visuals. Intriguing “7/Counterfeit” in cursive period hand on verso, its meaning lost to memory long ago. Not a great rarity, as are so many of the other notes in this sale, but still a note that will be pursued vigorously for its provenance, appearance, and its history.

Pedigree: Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part XV, October, 2006, Lot 8231. (Ford Price Realized: $1,265)
