Colony of Connecticut in New England. Indented Bill of Three Shillings. Fr. CT-3a. PCGS Very Fine-20 Details – Multiple Repairs, Design Redrawn, Altered Denomination. Repairs mainly evident on the back, 3S comically altered to 30S with the swipe of a pen; we cannot help but wonder if it ever fooled anyone. As illustrated.

Description: Engraved by Jeremiah Dummer, Boston. 105mm by 132mm. Strong laid paper. Serial No. 4979. Signed by Caleb Stanly, Assistant Treasurer, along with John Eliot and John Chester. A splendid note from the first Connecticut Act, and an attractive piece despite the PCGS qualifiers. Connecticut notes from this early era are great rarities, and “few and far between” rings true as a rule of thumb for this issue. The quality offered here will prove to be outstanding, especially to a forgiving specialist, and the rarity can be vouched for by any serious collector in the discipline. Formerly held in two great collections and currently looking for another worthy cabinet to call home. We expect this note will be well-loved and well-respected by its next steward.
