Colony of Connecticut. May 8, 1740 Redated May 8, 1746. Three Pounds. Fr. CT-56eCF. PCGS Fine-15 Details – Multiple Repairs. Though repairs were made to this note, it still faces up with great eye appeal and bold inking throughout. As illustrated.

Description: Imprint of Timothy Green. 90mm by 125mm; a “tall” note. Fragile paper. Serial No. 1020. “Signed” by Nath. Stanly, George Wyllys, and Joseph Buckingham. Reissued plate with dates of May 10, 1744; October 11, 1744; March 14, 1744/45; and May 8, 1746! Valued on the back as “Three Pounds in Value Equal To Silver Alloy At Eight Shillings per Ounce Sterling Alloy (Which is Seven Ounces & an Half).” Thought to be a Contemporary Counterfeit, though this note is a rarity in any format and should be respected as such at bidding time.
