Colony of Connecticut. March 4, 1762. Thirty Shillings. Fr. CT-143. PCGS Very Good-10 Details – Multiple Repairs, Design Redrawn. Expertly repaired to a visual state that is far finer than when it appeared in the Ford sale in 2004. As illustrated.

Description: Back imprinted “New-London. Printed by Timothy Green M,DCC,LXII.” 90mm by 71mm. Laid paper. Serial No. 690. Signed by George Wyllys, John Chester, and D. Edwards. A pleasing note overall, even with knowledge beforehand of its shortcomings. If this were a common note, it would be considered “filler” quality. However, this piece represents an opportunity for an advanced – or novice – collector to obtain a rare note from an equally rare issue. It is far finer than the qualifiers suggest, and worth a shot at bidding time. After all, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Pedigree: Ex New Netherlands sale of the Affleck-Ball Collections, December, 1975, Lot 119; Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part III, May 11, 2004, Lot 553. (Ford Price Realized: $604)
