A denomination and type that is simply rare with any location considered. The issuance of these higher denomination red seals was simply microscopic in comparison to the later date and plain back types. This is one of roughly a dozen known for the state of Illinois and the total population for the entire country is about 100 pieces. They always command strong attention when offered as both focused National Banknote collections and type collectors eagerly compete. This Continental National Bank $50 note is quite the pleasing piece that shows with terrific centering and margins, bright overprinting and strong banking signatures. Completely problem free for the assigned grade and the last to be offered for this denomination and type on the charter was another Very Fine graded piece with the serial number 21148 which brought $12,925 in a June 2017 sale.
