Deep olive- green ink and slightly off-white paper combine in an attractive manner. Light folds are present, but not to any great detriment to the crisp paper. About 15” x 9 ¼”. When folded in fourths as intended, the face of the bond reads: CITY AND COUNTY / OF / SAN FRANCISCO / $1,000 / FIVE PER CENT / EXPOSITION BOND / INTEREST PAYABLE / NOVEMBER 1ST AND MAY 1ST / PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST PAYABLE / AT THE OFFICE OF / THE TREASURER / OF THE / CITY AND COUNTY OF / SAN FRANCISCO / OR AT / THE FISCAL AGENCY / IN THE CITY OF / NEW YORK /PRINCIPAL DUE / MAY 1ST. Both sheets – the bond itself and the interest tags – are intact though cancelled as noted earlier. The interest tags, 40 all told, were for interest payment twice a year beginning in November, 1912 and continuing each May and November afterward through 1932. Absolutely one of the most extraordinary pieces of Panama-Pacific Exposition ephemera available, this bond and others like it represent the actual bedrock of the Exposition.
