Title: August 1, 1834 C. Bechtler Gold $5. Kagin-17. Rarity-5. 140 G, No Beads. Plain Edge. MS-61 PCGS.
Header: Uncirculated C. Bechtler Gold $5
Kagin-17, 140 G

Description: Dies as illustrated. Bright and reflective throughout with olive-yellow surfaces that offer faint orange halos at the rims. Plenty of luster makes its presence felt here. Not overly marked to the unaided eye – and it’s difficult to hide blemishes on mirror-like surfaces. The A punch here is again either an inverted V or a badly broken A punch; the final A of CAROLINA shows a trace of what may be a broken crossbar under low magnification. Dated August 1, 1834 by Bechtler to show conformity with the new federal coinage laws of that date. The attractive Bechtler $5 offered here is among the half dozen finest grading events for the variety listed at PCGS, not an insignificant fact. Whether for Pioneer Gold type purposes, an upgrade, or a first-time foray into this intriguing and historic corner of numismatics, the present coin should suit your purposes to the proverbial T.

PCGS Population: 4; 2 finer (both MS-62).
