Bold golden highlights engage the viewer immediately on this satiny Gem half dollar, especially around the brilliant obverse center. The reverse is largely brilliant throughout. The cap and hand details on the obverse are present for the most part though complete definition eludes us here. Smack dab in the middle of the Great Depression -- and for the first time in four years -- the half dollar presses were churning again in San Francisco, turning out nearly 1.8 million examples of the denomination. (The other two mints at Philadelphia and Denver would rejoin the production chorus in 1934 and remain productive until the end of the series in 1947.) Undeniably choice from stem to stern, and the final date in the series from a stand-alone production facility. Don’t miss out!
