1924 MS-66 PCGS.
This satiny beauty is likely to grab your eye immediately and then linger in your mind’s eye after your initial impression. The lovely pale champagne-gold surfaces are host to splendid cartwheel activity and sharply struck design motifs; a trace of pale blue iridescence comes through in a bold light. There are numerous certification events for this date in MS-66 at PCGS, but the generous nature of the figure – 120 pieces – suggests that more than one attempt has been made to upgrade a “66;” the paucity of MS-67 events suggests that many have tried but few have succeeded in the 1924 Buffalo nickel upgrade sweepstakes. The present coin has much to commend it, including a needle-sharp strike, a high degree of supportive luster, and a beautiful display of pastel toning. This is definitely one for the specialists!

PCGS Population: 123; 7 finer (all MS-67); 3 of the 123 are designated “+.”
