A boldly struck specimen of this key-date half dollar -- Liberty’s cap and hand details are crisp and nearly as sharp as ever found for the date. Pale golden highlights endorse the lustrous obverse while the reverse reveals a pleasing silver-gray approach to toning. One of just 208,000 examples of the date produced -- $104,000 face value -- the lowest regular-issue production tally in the series for any date, 1916-1947. Like its Philadelphia and San Francisco Mint counterparts of the year, the 1921-D is always in demand in just about any grade imaginable. Our offering of a Mint State-63 example should raise the paddles in response when the bidding activity begins.
