1912-S MS-64 PCGS.
This aesthetically appealing medium yellow-gold specimen exhibits soft and creamy luster that seemingly glows from within. A blush of pale olive toning throughout adds immensely to the overall eye appeal. The surfaces are frosty and matte-like in appearance, especially on the obverse, and no unsightly disturbances draw the viewer’s eye. A loupe will highlight some faint marks, but all are well-hidden and unobtrusive. Judging by the PCGS Population Report for this date, there may have been some resubmissions of specimens in the ever-present search for that extra grading point, especially at the MS-64 level. Of that we can’t be certain, but we can be certain that the present 1912-S eagle is undeniably choice for the grade and that it will be snapped up by a smart bidder at hammer time.
PCGS Population: 80; 15 finer (MS-66 finest). Interestingly, 35 of the 80 MS-64 pieces have the PCGS “+” qualifier.
