This highly lustrous lemon-yellow Indian eagle is frosty and mattelike in appearance. The eye appeal is choice for the grade with unbroken cartwheel activity on both sides. Another low-mintage branch mint issue for the date – 51,000 pieces were struck --though not so scarce as its Denver Mint compatriot in the preceding lot. Still, the 1911-S can prove to be a challenging date in attractive Mint State grades. Bidding for this lot will substantiate the scarcity of the date.
