Saddle Ridge Hoard

Description: Bold cartwheel luster whirls its way across the bright yellow surfaces; we note a toning spot at the top of Liberty’s bun. A special PCGS gold foil label designates the Saddle Ridge origin of this coin. The Saddle Ridge Hoard was discovered a few years ago on private property in California when the owner’s dog dug up some rusty old cans on Saddle Ridge; the rusty old cans contained scores of 19th-century gold coins in varying grades, including “finest known” specimens, etc. The initial offering of the Saddle Ridge Hoard was by our firm, Kagin’s, Inc., and the coins sold quickly. Included among the pieces were seven examples of the presently offered date in Mint State grades up to MS-64! It is a pleasure now to welcome one of our old friends back to the auction arena.
