This frosty Morgan dollar is brilliant with a bare wisp of pale champagne-gold, intense cartwheel activity, and grand eye appeal at the assigned grade level. The surfaces offer a combination of satiny and frosty texture that borders on a prooflike designation, especially on the reverse. Though not the rarest of the Carson City Morgan dollar issues, the 1879-CC was not heavily represented in any of the early 1960s or 1970s government releases of silver dollars. Additionally, a goodly percentage of the mintage – 756,000 pieces -- saw heavy commercial use in the region. Today, choice and finer Mint State examples are difficult to locate and highly prized by Morgan dollar fanciers.
