1875 Type I/I. Proof-64 DCAM PCGS.
This coin represents all that is expected from a cameo Proof trade dollar! The frosted motifs are boldly struck and stand out nicely from their richly mirrored surroundings. The devices are medium champagne-gold while the matching fields eventually deepen to fiery sunset orange and lively crimson at the rims. From a mintage for the date of 700 Proofs, though far fewer than that figure can be accounted for today. The style offered here with the Type I reverse (berry beneath claw) is considerably more scarce than its counterpart with the Type II (no berry) reverse.

Among DCAM Proof examples of the date, the lovely coin offered here stands high in the eyes of PCGS. The present trade dollar will satisfy collectors of the series or type specialists, and especially those collectors who enjoy lively and original toning on their 19th century prizes.

PCGS Population: 6; 3 finer within the DCAM Proof designation (all Proof-65 DCAM).
