1873-CC Arrows. Wiley Bugert-102. Small CC. MS-64 PCGS.
Here is a pleasingly toned and nicely lustrous example of a popular Carson City half dollar issue from the first of two years of coinage with arrows to signify a tiny increase in weight. Sharply struck in all places and on both sides save for a trifling amount of weakness in Liberty’s tresses. Only the tiniest of ticks can be found upon a diligent, magnified search – a little more pizzazz in the luster department and this would easily go MS-65. Soft cartwheel luster spins dramatically beneath the silver-gray and pale rose iridescence of the obverse, while the pale golden reverse provides splashes of pale crimson and orange. Small CC mintmark, first C noticeably lower in position than the second C. Whether you collect by date or variety, or simply enjoy the coinage of Carson City the way so many other collectors do, this splendid example of WB-102 will make for a welcomed addition to your growing cabinet.

PCGS Population: 8; 2 finer (MS-66 finest) among all submissions for the date. Among 1873-CC Arrows half dollars encapsulated specifically as WB-102 by PCGS, the present coin is the only specimen so designated. Shield green 30th Anniversary holder.
