This deep honey-gold specimen exhibits countless tiny marks when seen through a loupe, the most obvious a dig on Miss Liberty’s cheek, all no doubt factors in the PCGS grade qualifier.
This piece appears to be the same coin illustrated on page 48 of the Argosy Sept. 1972 Argosy magazine issue highlighting the discovery of the coins on the shipwreck Winfield Scott. Although we can not be certain as the images are a bit fuzzy, we can make out an edge bump at the same spot as the one in this sale. An intriguing possibility.

Regardless of it being a shipwreck coin or not, it is a decent entry-level introduction to the famous Moffat & Co. Gold Rush coinage.
