Tied for Finest Listed at NGC

Description: The satiny and lustrous golden surfaces offer up a wealth of orange-gold iridescence throughout the devices and in the fields, and the strike is about as nice as ever seen for the date – not full, yet nearly all there. Minimally abraded, especially to the unaided eye. Despite its somewhat lofty – in the context of Dahlonega’s typically small press runs – mintage of 12,148 pieces, the typical survivor is EF or AU, and Mint State coins are few and far between. Probably fewer than 10 examples exist in true Mint State, and that translates to rarity in anyone’s eyes. We expect a rush of bidding activity when this rare prize is offered. NGC Census: 2; none finer.
