1849 Mormon $5 Uniface Copper Rev, K-3a Restrike. “1849” Mormon $5. Uniface. Copper. Reverse Restrike, Kagin-3a* Plain Edge. MS-64 BN NGC (erroneously labeled “OBV” by NGC). Deep and satiny golden-tan surfaces exhibit lively mint orange fire in the protected areas. The clasped hands motif is bold, and the legends are equally crisp. Struck from a rusting die with raised pitting prevalent in the field at 8 o’clock. Choice throughout aesthetically and physically, and a piece that will undoubtedly excite the collector in all of us.
Surprisingly one of just three or four known in copper without gilding. Very much in demand from those wishing to complete a set.
