The ‘To:” name is W. Parish who is largely responsible for the failure of the Kirtland Bank. He is known to have used the back as his personal funding for the fraudulent purchase of land in the area especially when Joseph Smith Jr. was away from Kirtland. Doug Nyholm is involved in current research regarding not only the fraudulent activities of Parish but also the “First Signing” ceremony of Kirtland banknotes and serial number research.
