This frosty and lustrous honey gold quarter eagle enjoys a strike that is full and deep except at the highest of Miss Liberty’s tresses, as is typical for the date and type. The variety with a high 6 in the date and a bisecting obverse die crack from the rim at 11 o’clock through star 6, then across Liberty’s portrait and into the dentils between stars 12 and 13. The mint frost is intact and bold, especially at the rims. Choice for the grade.
Breen-6143: “Head of 1835. Tall head; only tip of upper ribbon shows; tiny forelock close to sixth star.”
