Header: ADDITIONAL 10 KOPEKS RUSSIAN-AMERICAN COMPANY NOTE
Title: 1816-1867) Kardakoff 53.3 PMG Choice Very Fine 35. S/N Unknown
Description: Printed in black with two corners pierced as issued. Even handling throughout but remarkably only one corner fold and no tears. Printing is quite bold for the assigned grade. Face has a finely engraved oval protector with spiral details with the Russian legend translated NOTE IN AMERICA with the denomination “10 KOP” below. Back displaying the company seal using a double headed Imperial Russian eagle within an oval frame, legend in Russian translated UNDER THE HIGH PATRONAGE OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY.
Probably around two dozen of the 10 Kopek notes are extant.
PMG has only graded two Very Fine specimens with this VF-35 example being the finer. However, research indicates that at least two are nicer including the John J. Ford/Joe Usibelli specimen offered earlier in this auction. This note is ideal for anyone wanting a representation of this rare and historical Alaskan bank note, World Currency, or “Odd & Curious” money
