1795 Talbot, Allum & Lee related private coinage. BLOFIELD CAVALRY. Copper. MS65 RB PCGS.
The obverse of this interesting so-called ‘Conder Token’ is a beautiful satiny smooth proof-like reddish brown, devoid of any noticeable flaws, and a choice example of the Talbot, Allum & Lee die. The reverse is spectacular with nearly full blazing red original luster. The Blofield variety is considered to be R8 and in constant demand.

The American firm of Talbot, Allum & Lee imported a quantity of English made copper tokens for circulation in this country. They were dated 1794 and 1795, denominated ONE CENT, and circulated for a time along with federal coins. Subsequently many were cut down by the U.S. Mint and used for coining half cents.
In England the attractive LIBERTY & COMMERCE obverse die was combined with several different reverse dies to create a series of unofficial collector coins. All are considered rare and desirable items of special interest to American collectors because of their association with the popular Talbot, Allum & Lee tokens.
