1662 Massachusetts Oak Tree Silver Twopence. Small 2 in Date. Noe-30 (R-4). AU55 PCGS.
A sharply-struck specimen with exceptional luster, and a typically constricted planchet. The obverse is slightly off center towards 6:00. The reverse shows light incrustation that fails to subdue the coin's unusually strong luster.

A single pair of dies produced all of the two pence coins which are seen in several stages of deterioration and repair. These are the only Massachusetts silver coins with the date 1662, as mandated by the Ordinance of May 16, 1662 that initiated the new denomination.
