1909-O VF-30 PCGS.
This pale honey-blonde Indian half eagle exhibits a soft but perfectly round O mintmark as well as some yellow mint brilliance in the deepest design recesses. The most important key-date of the series and a rival, in higher grades, with the 1929 for rarest of the design type. Just 34,200 pieces were struck and many of today’s survivors are VF to AU with a smattering of Mint State pieces known as well. The 1909-O half eagle represents the final gold coinage from the New Orleans Mint, which ceased to issue coins of any denomination after 1909. Choice for the grade with no readily apparent surface impediments.
