1909 MS-65 PCGS.
A superb Gem Indian eagle at first glance, and a beautiful coin that grows in aesthetic stature upon further examination. First impressions are important in numismatics, and few and far between would be the collectors who didn’t take an immediate liking to this specimen. The frosty yellow gold fields and devices exhibit pale olive iridescence throughout, and the exemplary cartwheel luster sweeps boldly across both sides. No marks of any measure can be found, even with a loupe, and no one blemish is worthy of verbiage here. Many collectors consider the Saint-Gaudens Indian eagle design as one of the most beautiful of all U.S. coinage design types. The sharpness of the fine details presented by the artist are all prominent on the present specimen – for instance, one can count the eagle’s feathers and the arrowheads or arrow shafts on the reverse if so inclined. Bidders will be hard-pressed to locate a 1909 eagle with this much character and eye appeal. We suggest you prepare for a heated bout of bidding activity if you favor this beautiful golden eagle.
